Quick report

Dug a quick pit at the top of banana bowl and found a generally right side up snowpack. (E aspect at 7200’) The January crust is around 120cm down within a 255cm deep snowpack. Very light new snow made up the top 20cm. Moderate failures did not propagate, though a thin crust exists 30cm down with 4F hardness above and below. 1F to pencil hardness for the rest of the Feb snow. Dry loose snow was moving as we stepped out into steep terrain, but did not encounter wind slabs on the east to northeast slopes we rode today. Light wind, but poor visibility for most of the day. S-1 steadily throughout the day, and riding conditions stayed good at low elevation in spite of highs near freezing.
