Quick report
Traveled across Newton-Clark around 9200 ft on skis, transitioned to boots ~9600 ft on Cooper Spur. Wind affected snow texture apparent everywhere. On skis, travel fairly easy, 1-2 inches penetration on edge-able surface crust. Much firmer and icier on windblown ridge crests. Travel in boots difficult, stiff crust (generally not supportive) with ~30 cm of dryer unconsolidated snow beneath. Post-holing between knee and thigh deep. Conditions significantly firmer in steeper terrain at higher elevation. Did not experience any signs of instability, but did not dig a pit or conduct any deeper snowpack tests.
