Quick report
Camped in Bean Basin in Teanaway on April 5th-6th. On April 5th: We skinned up from camp to the ridge between Mary’s Peak and Judy’s Peak around 5:30PM. The snow on the SE facing slope as we were heading up seemed like it would ski nice. We skied down around 7:30PM. The steeper/more south-facing stuff had frozen into an unbreakable crust that was quite fun to ski, however the less steep and more east facing stuff (which had seemed so nice on the way up) had frozen into a terrible breakable crust which proved almost impossible to ski. On April 6th: We skied the south face of Bean Peak back down to camp around 11:15AM, cutting somewhat left but mostly following the fall line. The snow was great, with a nice thin layer of corn! This was probably the best snow we skied the whole trip. We skied the west face of Earl peak around 1PM. The skiing was nice on the more NW facing aspects, but pretty wet and slushy on the more SW aspects. In terms of avalanche stuff, we passed some debris from old avalanches on the way up. We saw a few small wet loose slides on S facing aspects that probably released a day or two prior, but didn’t see anything else that looked super recent other than what looked like some cornices that broke off the ridge between Mary’s Peak and Judi’s peak, probably around 6500ft, on the east side.
