Quick report
We were pleasantly surprised to find dry, faceted snow on steep north aspects down to at least 7600 feet. We dug a pit on a north aspect at 7990 feet and found surface hoar buried 6 inches deep. We got no test results on this layer (ECTX), as the overlying snow was soft and had not formed a slab.
Everywhere else, the snow was moist to varying depths. On a south aspect at 8000 feet the snow was moist to at least 24 inches deep. We dug another quick pit on an east aspect at 7400 feet, where the snowpack was 43 inches deep and fully moist. The top 4 inches were wet. We suspect we could have easily triggered a wet loose avalanches if the slope angle had been steeper.
