2/15Mt Howard NE aspect/face Very cold start. Mostly sunny, warming, and calm most of the day. Low clouds appeared around 3pm. Variable wind affected snow on East facing ridge line. Great skiing on <30 slope on the North aspect in wind protected zone A couple large whoomphs on a flat North facing section at 7600 feet. We dug a pit at 7400 feet in NE aspect on 27 degree slope and found the following: CT14 down 25cm SP with wind slab on top of weak snow CT20 down 50cm PC CT 30 down 90cm PC not slabby but the bed surface was very distinct and sugary/unconsolidated on the bed surface. ECTN16 down 25cm No further results even with extra innings. In hindsight we should have done a PST. Next time!
