Quick report

Cracking
specific

A stormy afternoon! Much more snow by the end of the day then at the start. In the trees the rain crusts are still very apparent and you can feel them without trying too hard. Above 4000' the crust begins to get a little less apparent. In open terrain the bottom is harder to find and riding is soft. The new snow falling is very low density and is running/sluffing fast on steeper terrain. Evidence of storm slabs on convex rolls. Got some isolated cracking on skin tracks around convex rolls. Fast running sluffs on steeper terrain.

Calm and cloudy until around noon, then the convergence zone really turned on after 2PM.

Snowpack

Lots of snow falling throughout the day! In the afternoon the convergence zone set up and it was DUMPING...at least an inch an hour at times. Winds were blowing out of the west above treeline and there was clear evidence of wind transport.

Avalanche

Plenty of crown lines on convex terrain.
