Quick report

Widespread small wind slabs on W, N, and E aspects. We were expecting touchy conditions but stability was better than expected on N aspects. This was the 5th line of our day after skiing similar aspects earlier, however it was the most aggressive. We should’ve expected this slope to slide but the triggers and size of downslope windslabs caught us off guard.

After stepping out terrain all morning Skier 1 triggered a small windslab at the top of this line. As it slid, the initial debris triggered adjacent slabs under rocks at skier’s left and skier’s right, eventually running full path to the bottom of the bowl. Skier 1 skied to an island of safety under trees at skier’s left and was uninjured. Estimated max crown height was 12-inches.
