Noticeable but expected warm temperatures Friday into Saturday night kept most snow in the forests warm and slushy except for occasional patches of crusty snow. D1 avy debris from overhead cliffs (likely from earlier that day) found across the summer trail enroute to the Squak. Snow in the submarine had a ~2 in breakable crust with dense wet snow beneath. Clear Overnight skies resulted in the snowpack locking up and, once again, the snow demanded ski crampons in the alpine despite excessive warm temperatures. Strong gusts of warm wind swept the glacier near sunrise but settled back as the morning progressed. By 9 am, the snow was beginning to soften. Forest snow was mashed potatoes. Snow coverage is great. fs Road was snowfree until ~2900' , but long patches of dirt are sprinkled into the road slog.
