We skied a few runs through the Alpine Meadows backcountry. We noticed the zone appeared to have been skied heavily during the storm cycle. The wind slab problem appeared to be present quite a bit lower in the terrain than anticipated, well below ridge lines. A slab avalanche of some sort was triggered near the bottom of the “Bloody Knuckles” face (see attached photo). A snowboard cut on a northwest aspect around 7,500’ produced a D1 avalanche (see attached video). All the avalanches we witnessed appeared to be no larger than D1.5 in size, but could become consequential in complex terrain or around terrain traps. We also noticed rollerballs being produced from riding lower elevation, sunny terrain later in the day, and decided to call it quits.
