Quick report

Headed out to the Blue Lakes area today. When we arrived, there was a 3/4-1" firm refrozen crust from last night. In most cases, this crust was supportable to walk on, but breakable for the snowmobiles. With good solar radiation and warm air temperatures solar aspects did start to loosen up in below tree line terrain by noon. In the upper elevations, a light to moderate Southwest winds slowed the process down but some soft snow did exist with direct solar radiation. There was no observed transportation of snow with these winds.

As we traveled around, we saw no signs of recent loose wet activity on any of the surrounding peaks. Nor did we release anything from our sleds on steeper solar aspects.
