20-50cm of unconsolidated powder in the trees on the West side of the Iago-Great Bear ridge; similar conditions in the trees on the east side at lower elevations. Ridgetop snow was wind affected with moderate winds observed between 12:00-14:00. Some signs of shallow wind slab on south facing slopes (shooting cracks, 10cm slabs could be released from small features); we avoided slopes with wind slab and thus cannot comment further on the overall wind slab conditions or reactivity. The ridge east of Great Bear was wind scoured with variable surface conditions.
Evidence of slab (3 observed, size 1.5 to 2) avalanches observed on the S faces of Yak and Zopkios, observed from the Zopkios highway rest stop. One of the slab avalanches ran to the rock surface. One visible avalanche path on Zopkios appeared to have been potentially related to cornice fall (200-300m in length, uniform width 10-20m, shallow track). Recent wind effect made it difficult to estimate the avalanche age and crown depth. Considering recent weather, avalanches likely to have occurred Monday.
