Cold day in the pass at -16 in the am.
Upper snowpack (top 40cm) is cold snow around -14 degrees.
Layers of concern are down 50cm (laminated crust with rounding facets in between) CTM 14
and another layer 70cm down (ice crust/facet interface). This layer also provided a planar result in the hard range on our extended column test and compression test at CTH 22. Photos included show the results of the extended column test. Natural size 1-1.5 natural avalanches observed on steep southerly Alpine faces of Murray Range opposite the ski hill.
