Cold pow & no wind in the chutes

Excellent powder skiing in Fraser chutes today, and only a couple parties in the area. We put a skin track in and worked the chutes for laps from s-n. Ski penetration ~30cm at tl. The outgoing system seemed to start warmer and finish cold with calm winds, which made for great right-side up ski conditions in the upper pack. Approx 40-50cm of low density powder beneath 1300m. Quick hand pits revealed good bonding to recent hard / wind pressed surfaces. Even above this elevation ski surfaces were better than is usual - but more wind effected. At 1400m we found widespread soft windslab (4f, 10-15cm) on east facing aspects that was reactive to ski travel. Temps -10 all day with calm wind. No signs of n.a avalanches were observed. Poked into the alpine & a few sucker holes almost tempted us up higher to the ridge given improved conditions, but flat light and great skiing at treeline kept us lower. Rare windless White Pass powder at its best, and a nice change from all the breakable crust we've skiied of late!
