Mount Becher

jul_biz, Wednesday 23rd October, 2024 9:33PM

The day started very stormy with strong gusts of wind (about 60KM/h). Exposed icy crust on windward side and significant wind loading on leeward. Rain at the base of the mountain that turned into snow at the parking lot where temperature was at 0C. Noticed some whumpfing and heard rumble at a distance. Saw pinwheeling, and formation of cracks in the slab on a convex slope. Weather changed significantly around 1pm. Light snow and some break in the clouds eventually turning sunny at around 3pm and lots of snow melt from the trees with temperature above 2C. Fresh snow turned heavy, wet and sticky by end of day.
