Quick Observation

Cold but worthwhile trip to Corbin. It is pretty tracked up, and some skiers have picked some bold lines right from the alpine since the storm, but there is still good riding to be had in the trees. Our task was to look at snowpack structure and find out if today's moderate winds were transporting snow. The winds switched back to the south west today and we did observe some moderate snow transport at ridgetop. Probably some pockets of windslab up there. Stability has been improving and at treeline we found 55 cm of storm snow over the Dec 15 weak layer, and 65 cm over the late November crust. These are still layers of concern, but for now they don't seem to be reacting in snowpack tests. We will see what happens when we get more snow!
