Avalanche Information

Our group of 4 used a belay to perform a ski cut at the top of the couloir which produced a good sluff slide. Feeling confident our first skier descended the couloir and the snow pack seemed stable. Our second skier began their descent and about three turns in the slab released. They were unable to ski out of the slide and were carried to just above the base of the couloir. They were close together and able to self rescue. The other two members of the group safely descended and performed fist aid until we were helicoptered out. Despite the considerable rating we thought the steepness of the couloir would make for a safer route. We ended up being extremely fortunate with the extent of our injuries and with parks being able to get us out before dark. Play safe out there!
