Quick report

The gullies on Webster Cliffs are beginning a spring diurnal cycle. Today as we began our skin at 8am, crust was supportable off trail and throughout the approach to Green Chasm. As the sun began to hit the gullies in the afternoon, the snow in Central Gully warmed enough for soft turns, with no NEW rollerball activity observed. Evidence of old wet loose activity was present throughout the line, including an old glide avalanche on the “lost in the sun” slabs. Snow in the shade did not soften and remained icy. As the days get warmer, be aware that there is still a lot of ice at the tops of these gullies, especially in Green Chasm. This will pose a serious falling ice hazard as spring goes on.
