Quick report
We witnessed a skier in another party intentionally trigger this windslab avalanche at the top of Tallac's East Bowl on a east-north-east aspect. The crown spans approximately 150', varying in depth from a couple inches to a couple feet. The slide ran about 100' downslope, but did not step down into any deeper layers. Nobody was caught or injured by the slide. We also saw signs of D1 windslab avalanches along the ridge, likely naturally triggered overnight or earlier in the morning. Our uphill route followed the 'standard' track along the ridge between the East Bowl and the Northeast Bowl. We didn't observe signs of instability in the snowpack (no slab formation, no whumphing), but saw significant wind transported snow.
