Quick report

Cooler day than expected due to low cloud cover in the morning and NE winds in the afternoon. Snow on steep and shady slopes remained cold and dry. Sunny slopes had a light crust that softened throughout the day.

NE winds were stripping snow from NE aspects, but we did not see regular deposition on SW/W aspects near ridgelines - these were mostly bare soil and rocks. Farther downslope from ridgelines there were occasional small drifts of wind blown snow with irregular distribution patterns.

We found partially intact surface hoar buried by 1-2" of snow from last night. It was only on cold slopes open to the sky. Any slopes that warmed yesterday did not have surface hoar.  Shovel tilts were somewhat planar- displaying "Q2" shear quality.

Low clouds and cool temps in the morning, with clearing skies in the afternoon. NE winds kept temps cool, but the sun was strong enough to wet sunny surfaces at mid to lower elevations
