Quick report
We saw 8-10 old crown lines from the wind event last week (Jan 4- 9th timeframe). The exact date and event is unknown. I was surprised to have found so many. I haven’t seen this much movement in other areas within the forecast range. Based on the tracks, people have been sledding in these zones since the recent wind event. Tracks go right through the crown lines. They are in places people commonly ride. The winds slabs are old, at least a week or more and 6-12 inches thick. They are in the upper and mid level elevations, ATL and NTL. N-E aspects between 8,300-9,300ft. Non were reactive today. We skied and rode on them. This wind event must have hammered the Blue Lakes area more than other zones. It was Iike a gold mine of crown lines. This was the first time this season we are able to access these areas. Low snow and creek crossing posed a huge challenge. It was not easy sledding to get in and out of these zones. Melt freeze crusts, punchy wind board, mandatory side hills, open creeks and frozen ice made the normal routes hard to take and very committing.
