Snowpack
We went to Hidden Peak on the West Shore today where multiple persistent slab avalanches occurred on Friday February 14. We wanted to find some of these reported avalanches and do snowpack tests to see if these weak layers were still showing unstable reactive results. We found multiple avalanches near 7500' on NE aspects. The weak layer being 4F facets on top of a rain crust now underneath 75cm of 1F recent storm snow. We did multiple snowpack tests on 2 different avalanche crowns with some mixed results. Most of the tests we did showed that this weak layer was no longer reactive with 1 test being an ECTP-25 failing on the facet-rain crust layer. We did not observe any other signs of instabilities today.
Thin melt freeze crusts, frozen tree drippings, and roller balls are present on all snow surfaces in this area from yesterday's warmer temperatures. Warming occured today with some wet snow development, but this was limited with the cooler temperatures and increased SW winds.
