We observed slab formation that built in thickness from nothing at the parking lot to several inches at Austin Pass. We observed small shooting cracks at the pass propagating half a ski length to a full ski length. The small slabs seemed fairly reactive but disconnected and the winds were increasing. Signs of wind affected snow also increased. Hasty pits were also reactive but varied in pressure to trigger. The small cornice at the top of the pass was triggered by another group passing over. Our plans were cautious with the group experience level and we decided these observations and the forecast were reason for more caution.
