Quick report
Snow conditions consisted of smooth moist surface snow atop a supportable crust on solar aspects and dry powder 3" deep on shaded north aspects. Sun and very warm air temperatures were quickly moistening the snow surface, though moderate winds likely prevented extensive melting. Evidence of an overnight freeze was still apparent at 11:00, likely due to clear skies overnight. Winds were unable to transport any surface snow, despite being steady at moderate speeds from the south. Roller balls and pinwheels were observed in multiple locations. No loose wet avalanches larger than size 1 were observed.

Warm temperatures well above freezing and consistently moderate winds throughout the afternoon.
Snowpack
On a southeastern aspect at 5200' we observed 210cms of snow. The surface snow consisted of melt forms a few inches deep (10cms) atop a 1F crust (presumably from the rain event on the 23rd). Moist snow was observed down to just over one foot in this location. Free water was not observed in the top layers of the snowpack. An obvious ice crust was observed down at 47cms (18"). The 1/31 interface was noted at 81cms (2.5'). The facets had transitioned to rounds in this location. No fractures were observed during an ECT.
