Quick report
On January 15th we toured from Benson Hut back to Mt. Lincoln. Along the ridge we observed 2 large natural avalanches that had failed 6+ feet deep in the snowpack.
Avalanche
We observed 2 large (D3/R4) natural persistent slab avalanches on the Sierra Crest just north of Anderson Peak. Both avalanches slid on N to NE facing slopes at about 8200ft. We estimate they failed 6-10 feet deep in the snowpack based on the size of the debris and the crown. It’s likely these occurred on Jan. 13 or 14 during the storm.
