Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Skied a variety of slopes in Odin bowl. There was a light NW wind on the ridge line. The skin track across the lake from yesterday was covered indicating snow transport, but tracks in more sheltered areas were still visible and didn’t look like much transport occurred. We jumped on a variety of small test slopes from the lake up ranging in steepness from the mid 30s to low 40 degrees. Most of these slopes failed to produce any results. I was able to pop a small slab on a SE aspect at 4800’ on a 39* test slope but it didn’t propagate beyond ski length. No results on that same slope when it was 35*. We saw localized cracking every once in a while when stepping above the skin track, but nothing much beyond ski tips. We watched a couple ski the slope directly adjacent the slide from yesterday without incident. Our party skied the center of the bowl before skiing a NE shot into the bowl. The overlying slab appeared to lack the ability to propagate or was better bonded to the interface than we expected.
Avalanche
Saw yesterdays intentionally triggered D1.5 on the NE aspect of Odin Bowl.
