Quick hand pit dug at 12:00 at 6000’ on South aspect 30 deg slope found ~40cm of storm snow on top of 1F to P rain crust which formed Friday, Nov. 22nd. Distinct interface at 20cm depth between yesterday and today’s storm snow which failed easily on hand shear test. Storm snow was well bonded to the rain crust at our pit location, unable to get failure at this interface with hand shear. Rain runnels visible under the recent storm snow in a few locations while skinning up from Paradise. We triggered (while skiing) a D1 slab avalanche on the 20cm deep interface in a small pocket of steeper terrain just up from 4th Crossing. The skier was caught briefly but not carried, no injuries or burial occurred. See details in Avalanche observation. Witnessed small shooting cracks while setting skin track on ~25 deg South facing slope above Chips Trees. Triggered D1 slab avalanche on South facing 30-35 deg slope (small isolated pocket of steeper terrain within the trees).

Snowing heavily throughout the day. Winds calm to light from the West with no significant wind transport occurring. Visibility 1/8th mile in the AM improving to 1/4 mile by 1200.
