Heart/Crescent Lake Missions

Accessed Point Saint Charles from Glacier Lake trailhead via snowmobile. We determined early on that any southern exposure had a thin solar crust. There was about 6 inches of moderately dense snow on top of a supportable snowpack from Heart/Crescent basin. It was very warm even in the shade, close to 30 degrees around 7000 feet. Winds were gusty and reaching 30-40 mph on ridge tops out of the W and SW. Snow transportation was visible from McDonald, Mountaineer, and Glacier Peak. We skied 35+ degrees back down to Island and Glacier Lake. Rollers were a concern on the southern aspect later in the day. Didn't dig a pit, didn't observe any signs of instability (except for rollers) or any recent avalanches.
