Kept things simple and safe today to check out the snowpack in the Crystal BC. Performed several hand/pole shears on way up to Bullion on various aspects w unremarkable results. Isolated cracking under skis while skinning. Performed a ski cut on a SW aspect at 5400’. Experienced a failure under skier weight on test slope, cracking observed was slightly wider than length of skis. Forgot to check angle of test slope but my guess is around 35°. See image below.
