Skiing down the west slopes of Backbone ridge towards The Coccyx mountain ridge line I remotely triggered what my partner and I identified as a wet slab avalanche between to boulders. I heard what sounded like a low volume gunshot and looked uphill to see the avalanche falling into the gully I had just dropped into. This avy was slow moving and posed no danger to us.
