Quick report
Skinned up Kendall Trees and dropped in to Main Vein chutes and exited out sterling direct. About 4-5 in of new snow had fallen from Sat night to Sunday around noon at upper elevations. Underneath the new snow was a really solid crust. There was just enough new soft snow for Main Vein chutes to ski much better than expected. There was some sluff in the chutes but nothing unmanageable. Snow was soft and light as temps had dropped significantly overnight. The exit out the Kendall West area skied must better than expected as well. The approach is getting tougher by the day with abundant creek crossings (ski partner collapsed a small snow bridge) and icy sidehilling in the trees. Ski crampons were required to skin up in the trees. The lunge exit still goes all the way to road/I90 but I wouldn’t be surprise if it is melted out by next week.
