Quick Observation

Previous night freeze allowed very supportive and fast travel right from highway, at 8am (-3deg C). Travel in upper bowl below col was dust on melt-freeze crust. Crust was slightly breakable with a good stamp of the ski if no ski crampons thus ski crampons very useful. Switched to bootpack at about 2400m. Snow was soft under the hard but breakable crust made for easy bootpack to col. On descent, surface was moist at 2200m and crust on solar had completely broken down to schmoo. Snowpack still quite supportive at valley bottom especially on well used/packed track on North side of valley
