Not Balu

A notably quieter weekend at McCrae. Parking is getting lower and lower. We made it a decent ways with 4L and good clearance, but felt a little dicey. Coverage has improved, roughly in the 80-90cm range at treeline. Noted small but widespread surface hoar growth in open areas generally from 1700m to our high point of 2150m. Some wind effect and what felt like wind slab on the leeward sides of rolling terrain in the open. We didn't experience any cracking or movement up or down, but kept things fairly low angle. Did one hand shear in an open meadow for curiosity. It didn't slide but pivoted/rolled off quite cleanly from a thin crust, down approx 40-50cm. Great day of mellow pow turns in the sun!
