Rode McGill Shoulder.
The skin track in was a skating rink. Once above 1600m it started to improve. The snow was great, although it looked a bit skied out at the end of the day, with a sporty exit.
We dug a pit in some open trees at 1800m on a SSW slope. ECTP 11 @ 45cm - popped like a cash register. The surface hoar that failed looked like some fancy Maldon’s flaky salt.
We didn’t see any evidence of recent activity where we were riding, but stuck to mellow slopes and visibility wasn’t great. Didn’t see shooting cracks or hear whumphing.
