Quick Observation

The skiing was great in the morning on north facing slopes. About 10cm of freshish snow on top of a 30 cm denser layer, with sugar below that in some places. Sun crust was forming wherever the sun was on the snow. At 9am it was just below freezing and by 2pm it was +6 and the snow was sticky and getting heavier. Even snow in the shade on the north slopes was visibly affected by the temperature increase. Observed evidence of natural sluffing on the east facing slope above the tarn. On the same slope it looked like a small cornice failure had caused a small slide that ran almost to the tarn. Wind was transporting snow and covering our tracks in places.
