Zoa Subpeak North

The wind increased and swirled around throughout the afternoon, cross loading some slopes to the point of exposing old tracks or just adding a light wind skin to other slopes. Picking a less effected slope the first skier noticed fracturing while trying to ski cut the slope, the much much heavier second was able to trigger the slope. As zoa subpeak seems to be gaining popularity it is important to remember where other parties are throughout the area. If you look closely in the photo you can see the debris covers an up track another party was using throughout the day. If we triggered the slope above them or the slope released naturally a good day in the mountains could've changed quickly.

We dug a profile in the morning, and didn't have any concerns with the upper snowpack or new snow. As the day continued wind and new snow increased to create more tension and cohesion in the fresh storm snow which allowed us to ski cut a size 1 on a steep convex slope at the end of the day.
