Quick Observation

Dug a pit on the SW/W aspect of gunshot today around lunch time. We found the dense crust at 65cm~ which slid at CTH5&6. We found another weak layer at 20cm~ which slid at CTM4&5, our group triggered 3 or so size 1 avalanches (15-20cm crown, 5m wide) on the top steep tree section which did not run more than 50m. And no more avalanches triggered down lower. Overall the snow was a great, when doing big turns it was easy to find that solid crust below the good snow on top. Be mindful of open terrain with the weak layers present. The bottom of the skin track near the carpark is pretty tough going with rock solid off camber switch backs for the first 200m, but it gets a lot better after that.
