We went up to the Top of Paris Peak to check on the new weather station we installed there this fall.
Looking down the large avalanche path on the north side of Paris Peak
It's a great time to get out and explore the backcountry because the avalanche danger is LOW. This is the first time and probably the last that we've ventured out onto the north side of Paris Peak, a huge avalanche path involving travel in "extreme" terrain.
Snowpack
Variable and inconsistent conditions for the most part. Nice, fast, recrystallized "loud powder" and surface hoar in sheltered areas, with the best turning conditions on low angled slopes.
