Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure
Elevation

What made the snowpack structure interesting was that while isolating a column for a compression test, failure occurred about 25 cm below the surface. The next failure occurred about 40 cm below the surface, but at hit 22. An ECT did not produce any failure. Both layers had faceted snow. I’m curious if either layer will be of greater concern with wind loading or as it gets buried with more snow.
