Had a fun day figuring out our systems and remembering how to ride our sleds. Stayed in the flatter sparsely tree’d areas at the east end of Fraser lake. We stayed off the lake because there was a lot of open creeks still. We found 50 to 100 cm of nice fluffy pow in the area. No slab or crust observed but there is still no base out there. There are still rocks lurking just under the surface. Creek beds have the most snow but there is open water in a lot of them still. We did not venture above the tree line but another group of sledders did some high marking on some north faces in the area and did not trigger anything. Overall a really pleasant day with friends testing our gear, doing beacon checks and getting some practice with our shovels digging out our machines. All smiles after yesterday!
