Over the last few days, we’ve dug dozens of handpits evaluating the storm slab and have seen limited reactivity within the new snow. Above 4,000 ft, we’ve seen widespread faceted grains lingering beneath crusts on several aspects. In some places it’s wet enough to clump together but in others the grains are very large and dry, particularly on true north where there is not a crust. Winds were stronger than forecasted today and we saw signs of wind transport and loading. Newly formed slabs remained shallow and ranged 2-8in deep.
