Quick report
We found unsupportable crust below 5300’, and above that the snow was soft and lovely, easily 12” of unconsolidated fluffy snow. We observed no signs of instability, though did spy some big crowns in steeper terrain around us that looked like they’d failed in the past few days. We skied mainly east aspects, in very mellow terrain. The weather was quiet, making for good vis and barely a whisper of wind all day. We observed some dual-facing small cornices growing on the ridgetop above 7000’, and what looked like wind effect on more open slopes, but none in the sheltered terrain where we skied. Lower elevations are finally filling in, making for a classic middle fork day with the low-elevation beat-down feeling short-lived enough and worth the rewards.
