WMR Snow Safety was conducting early season avalanche mitigation work on a North aspect just below 7000' in elevation. We found reactive to touchy conditions on a 90 cm snowpack with 25 cm new snow sitting on a mixed bag of surface hoar, facets and crusts all the way to the ground. Large collapse whumphs and cracking were occuring everywhere we went and areas steeper than 35 degrees were reactive to explosives use. Many small, recent natural avalanches were observed.
