Quick report
Toured up TRT and observed some surface cracking at low elevations, which subsided as we gained elevation. 1-3" of wet new snow on top of rain crust on the TRT. Arrived in Tuckerman Ravine to sunny skies and no winds at 10:30 am. Snowpit at 10:48 4625ft S aspect 31 degree yielded CTN & ECTX with 135cm deep snowpack that seemed to have been affected by recent variable temps and rain and been consolidated into a cohesive unit. Took a lot of shear force with a shovel to dislodge a slab, pulling with near maximum force. After these observations, decided to climb and ski right gully. The snow had been heavily effected by the bright sun, and felt like April corn with minimal wet loose debris. Observed ice falling from sluice. Exited through firm snow that had remained shaded all day.
