Quick report
Tyler and I went into Tuckerman Ravine to look at the distribution of new wind slabs. Upper elevations were mostly wind scoured, but we observed loaded and pillowy surfaces directly underneath. There is a crown in the center headwall which looked older and had started to fill in again. Where we were standing on the Ravine floor, there is about a 1-4 cm wind crust forming on the surface, with unconsolidated snow underneath. We also observed facets developing underneath a 2 cm thick ice crust about 30 cm down from the surface. We watched 3 people ski the lower portion of Left Gully. They reported good skiing outside of punching through the wind crust. We watched another skier come down Right Gully, which looked like it had variable snow conditions. We dug a pit and did a quick ECT. Our pit depth was 95 cm and no fracture occurred (ECTX).
