Quick report

Location: Adjacent to the base of Hillmans Highway 3900ft Our AIARE 2 course with Northeast Mountaineering spent the day making snowpack observations in the areas of Tuckerman Ravine and Hillman's Highway. Time: 2 PM Aspect: North Slope: 25 Weather: Partly sunny skies in the AM became overcast by mid-day. Light snow showers starting at 2PM, Light North wind. Height of snow - 207cm ECTN23 Q2 down 42cm on top of a stout crust CT15 Q2 down 42cm The snowpack throughout the area was very firm and traction is needed to get around on steeper slopes. Due to poor ski conditions and limited visibility, we opted to ski the Sherburne which has excellent coverage and dust on crust. The surface snow became moist around 2800'.
