Alaska Avalanche School Rec Level 1 Snowpack obs We toured in three groups from center ridge parking lot: one up Tincan backdoor, one up center Ridge, and one up the sunburst back door. On the tour up we did not observe any new avalanches or signs of instability. We were curious if we would see new rollerballs given the warm weather, but none were observed. On center ridge, we dug pits at 1800 feet on a Northeast aspect. We observed one of the gnarliest layers of buried surface hoar of our careers. Currently it doesn't have a functional slab on top of it and isn't producing dramatic results. CT tests were collapsing between CT5 - CT 10, sudden and resistant planer breaks. ECTs showed no propagation and collapsed in the single digits. We did not travel to the alpine
