Quick report
Today we toured up the Horse Creek drainage, towards Matterhorn Peak to check out a skier triggered wind slab avalanche that was reported anonymously yesterday.
Evidence of overnight wind transport in the upper elevations was apparent as the skin track from the previous day was mostly covered up. Also the crown of that skier triggered wind slab on Matterhorn Peak was only somewhat still visible and the avalanche debris was completely refreshed with wind transported snow. (see attached photos)
I'm posting pictures of several other skier/snowmobile triggered wind slab avalanches in above tree line elevations, that are in steep, leeward catchment zones, in challenging or complex terrain. No natural avalanches have been reported or witnessed in similar or different terrain in our forecast area since the last storm.
