Remote snowmobile triggered a D2.5 avalanche on the east aspect of Ski Lake Creek.

 

Edits added by Forecaster..... After a full day of using the snowmobiles to shuttle each other to the top ski runs. The Snowmobiler dropped off the snowboarder on the West slope of above ski lake.  The rider then found a safe spot to keep an eye on the snowboarder for the planned ski descent.  He parked my snowmobile on a flat slope above the  Ski Lake Creek Gully.  The snowboarder on top of the slope who was just dropped off and saw the slope below the flat area slide and alerted the snowmobiler.  The snowboard was never rideong during the avalanche. He chose a different safer slope to descend and reunite with the snowmobiler.  The snowmobiler didn't have a good angle to see how the avalanche slide. After making their way around to get a better view it was determined that the avalanche was remotely triggered an avalanche that propagated the length of the gully. No one was caught in the avalanche. The group debriefed and we are thankful that they shared their experiences.
