Collapsing

I went up Horse Creek from Twin Lakes. The coverage was decent on the hiking trail. I was able to keep skis on with minimal rock strikes to the bottom. There were some impressive meadow whumpfs in the flats but I didn’t experience any in ski terrain. The wind was increasing as I climbed up to the bowl below Matterhorn Peak. There were debris piles below both main chutes and also in the bowl to east. It was hard to tell with the flat light and wind filling if the crown was up into the chute or just the apron/face below them. Based on moderate drifting in of crowns I could see on the aprons, I’d guess they slid at the tail end of the 12/14 storm. Ski conditions consisted of wind board and some surfy wind-redistributed graupel pow. Better scenery than skiing.
