Today at Harvey we went out planning to manage a persistent avalanche problem. So we headed up a conservative route and found a representative place to dig down and look. We found two crusts buried 30 cm which were strong enough to support us standing on them. We weren't finding signs of avalanches, like whumpfing or cracking or naturals avalanches, so we figured the crusts must be bridging over the weak layer. We found a small piece of terrain without consequence to test our theory and had great riding from treeline down.
